something that might complicate this a bit is that the current
nagios-foo packages already own the config files in which we're
interested, and i don't know of an easy way to transfer ownership
to the -common package.=20

aside from that, i think a common package would be a good idea.  however,
i'll also put my vote in that we should get the current packages into
a usable and tested state before further changing things.  i'll give
the nagios-text and nagios-mysql packages a shot tonight to see how
things are right now, and maybe try upgrading a machine with a previous
version of nagios in main.
