we haven't started the actual packaging, but there's been some
discussion about whether or not nagios 2 should be a new package
nagios2 or whether we should try to provide an upgrade path from
nagios 1. =20

no one has really stepped up to the plate to do any packaging of
nagios2--i've spent most of my time and effort fixing bugs in
the existing packages, which are finally getting into a pretty good
state.  i myself have been thinking about starting the packaging process
for version 2, but have spent my time focusing elsewheres with sarge
so close and the NEW queue frozen.

you're more than welcome to help with this if you like.  if you know deb
packaging, feel free to produce the initial build skeleton of what we'd
need for nagios 2.  otherwise, if you could share any gotchas you had
=66rom upgrading from v1 -> v2, have ideas for providing upgrade paths
for the nagios-*sql, or have helpful build and config options,=20
documenting them on this list would also be very helpful.
