the db support has been dropped from the upcoming nagios 2.x series, and
the only nagios packages in debian right now are the 1.x series, which
have native db support.  the version number is probably what confused
you... the "2" is the epoch, and the actual version number is
1.3-cvs.20050402 (based off of a dated cvs checkout of the latest 1.x
stable tree).

2.x packages will probably find their way into debian sometime after
sarge is out.  still have to work out the upgrade path :/
