Japp, let's do it. Similar problem here. "/var/lib/nagios" is IMHO the
best choice and it seems to be common. A "grep -c ':/var/lib/'
/etc/passwd" gives me 7 lines with users like "mysql" and "gdm".

I think it's too complicated. No. YMMV.
