I'm also experiencing this problem.
I'm trying to use check_http posing as a mobile device.
So I add this parameter:

  -A 'mozilla/5.0 (symbianos/9.2; u; series60/3.1 nokian95_8gb/15.0.015; 
profile/midp-2.0 configuration/cldc-1.1 ) applewebkit/\
413 (khtml, like gecko) safari/413'

(Useragent of Nokia N95)

However this is impossible, since the semicolon's cause mayhem ...
Very very annoying ...
