The default config is an optional thing, but anyhow - the package recommends
the nagios-images package which provides the icons. So for everybody which
didn't disabled automatic installation of recommends the icons will be there.
I don't think it would be a good thing to force every icinga user to install
this package.

Already done from the beginning.

That isn't that easy, but you are free to add images/foo pointing to your
images via an apache directive. But you shouldn't redefine images/ without
copying the icinga default images to the new location.
imho there is nothing I can do here. If you have a better idea: let me know.
