main problem is the dual stack support and the kaspersky subnet support 
patch for original nrpe which supports ipv4 only. the algorithm/code 
needs to be rewritten if you want to support slash notation for ipv6 as 
well - see https://dev.icinga.org/issues/2102 for the first attempts and 
feel free to share a reworked patch.

furthermore, the git master is tagged as 3.0-dev for the reason of 
changing the anonymous DH mode to x509 certificates - 
https://dev.icinga.org/issues/291 which breaks compatibility.

more on that roadmap https://dev.icinga.org/projects/core-nrpe/roadmap - 
until that is not resolved, an official first release won't happen soon.
