ah yes. sorry, i totally forgot to report the issue to the debian 
bugtracker. i would call it a grave bug, and opting for an immediate 
include into wheezy. sorry for the inconvenience this probably caused, 
it was not that easy to track it down in the first place as the bug 
reports did not make it that clear.

attached is a patch against 1.7.1 release, squashing the 2 commits into 
one, leaving the Changelog intact (1.7.2 shouldn't be mentioned in a 
1.7.1 revision imho). consider it tested on my dev box.

the other fixes released within 1.7.2 are minor, not release critical, 
and some are also nearly-enhancements.
