[Pkg-nagios-devel] Bug#670373: *something* needs to be done about the client

severity 670373 grave
thank you

If nsca clients are upgraded to 2.9.1 before the server, nsca-based
service monitoring will break badly for those hosts. Non-trivial
installations are bound to run into this problem, even if they only have
Debian-based systems.

The 2.9.1 client is not usable in its current state.

The issue should be fixed in time for the wheezy release. I am looking
for possible client-side workarounds now. A description of the problem
in the release notes should only be considered as a last resort, IMO.

BTW: Quick testing shows that the 2.7.2 client seems to work with the
2.9.1 server.
