[Pkg-nagios-devel] Take over some nagios plugins from the sitesummar-client package?

Hi.

I am the maintainer of the sitesummary system, a system to track
machines by having them call in with configuration information and
automatically generate setup for Nagios and Munin to monitor these
machines. At the moment, the sitesummary-client binary package contain
some generic Nagios check scripts that could be used outside the
sitesummary framework. They are included in sitesummary because they
are missing elsewhere, and the sitesummary server package generate
Nagios configuration using these checks. I would like to limit the
sitesummary package to only those things that are sitesummary specific,
and make these Nagios plugins available for a wider audience.

The list of plugins can be seen on
<URL: https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/sitesummary-client/filelist >:

  /usr/lib/sitesummary/nagios-plugins/check_cups_queue

Check the queue length in CUPS, useful to detect stuck queues.

  /usr/lib/sitesummary/nagios-plugins/check_etc_hosts

Check that the content of /etc/hosts matches DNS, useful to detect
    obsolete entries.

  /usr/lib/sitesummary/nagios-plugins/check_etc_resolv

Check that the DNS servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf are working.
    Useful to detect obsolete entries.

  /usr/lib/sitesummary/nagios-plugins/check_kernel_status

Check if the running kernel is older than the newest installed
kernel (ie the machine need a reboot with a new kernel.

  /usr/lib/sitesummary/nagios-plugins/check_ldap_root

Check if the LDAP server is replying by searching the root DSE.
This work even without authentication on all LDAP servers I am aware
of, and check that it actually is working, instead of just checking
that it is listening to its port.

  /usr/lib/sitesummary/nagios-plugins/check_shutdown

Check if shutdown is running, allowing Nagios administrator some
warning and a log entry when a machine is intentionally rebooted.

Would you be interested in moving these Nagios checks to some Nagios
plugin package, where they will be visible for more users and maintained
outside the sitesummary system?
