But t is intended to do so:

# head -4 /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_running_kernel
#!/bin/bash

# Check if the running kernel has the same version string as the on-disk
# kernel image.

CRITICAL - *"WARNING: Kernel needs upgrade [linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64
!= linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64]"

However .. if I Run that check on commandline, it reports:

OK: Running kernel matches on disk image: [Linux version 3.2.0-4-amd64
(debian-kernel at lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Debian 4.6.3-14)
) #1 SMP Debian 3.2.65-1+deb7u2]

Which is indeed not the correct behaviour.

> Should I reopen the bug report?

You opened this bug for including a new check, which should be
possible with an existing one. So this bug is invalid in the first place
.

There is open #780098 which reports a problem with this plugin, but it
looks like it is a different one.

So a solution would be to fix the existing plugin to work as expected
(and promised by it). This should be handled in a seperate bugreport.

With kind regards, Jan.
