I've setup a temporary separate netatalk.git on Alioth just to stage my
changes for now:

Yes of course. I went over the guide to the changes and there was
nothing to be done, so I just bumped the version.

I've made a total of 6 commits, including the above two, on the team
branch of my own repo. Let me know if you think I should push them to
the main netatalk.git:

If you're happy with that, are you happy for me to update the changelog
for release and merge the changes back into the master branch? Shall we
