Hi Niels,

Sure! This patch has not been previously applied because one of the
first steps taken when this package was adopted was to symplify
d/rules, so this patch can no longer be applied directly.

I've no previous experience with cross-building, so any help is
appreciated. Could you update the patch?

Thanks! I don't mind at all if you do an NMU but I would prefer to do
the change myself and learn a little bit about how to apply patches
for cross-build.
