[pkg-nvidia-devel] Bug#461184: Reassigning seems premature

There is no reason what so ever to say it is a driver bug.

kwin crashes with the nvidia driver. kwin should not crash no matter
what garbage the driver may return to it. It can detect that it got bad
data back and give an error, but a crash is simply sloppy coding and
hence a bug in kwin. There is simply no doubt about that.

Now if the nvidia driver happens to return garbage to a certain call
then that too is a bug and that one would be in the nvidia driver.

Now the fact there is no crash with the nv driver means nothing, since
the nv driver doesn't do 3D and hence kwin won't try to run any of the
composite 3D code and hence any bug in kwin related to that would not be
hit. The logic that it works with nv and not nvidia makes it an nvidia
bug is completely invalid.

I think unless kwin stops crashing and gives an error about invalid
response from the driver then this bug belongs to kwin.

Has anyone shown kwin to run correctly with any other 3D driver and also
supports composite at the same time as openGL (so the ATI driver
probably doesn't qualify for the test)?

In my case I run the 169.07 nvidia driver.
