thanks

I'm marking this as grave because this bug shows that
nvidia-kernel-legacy-71xx-source doesn't work anymore. I'm tagging it
fixed-upstream because Vincent's message above says that it is fixed
upstream. By the way: I, too, am experiencing this bug. I would
much appreciate it if it were fixed. The problem is that this package
doesn't have a very active maintenance team. But the steps to make
things work aren't impossible wizardry; I would think that the main
steps are to:

1. grab the latest stable x86 and amd64 drivers (.run files) from
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606
2. apt-get build-dep nvidia-kernel-legacy-71xx-source
3. apt-get source nvidia-kernel-legacy-71xx-source
4. put the new .run files you downloaded into the
nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-71xx-71.86.04/ directory, replacing the
old .run files
5.  cd nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-71xx-71.86.04 && dpkg-buildpackage -b -uc
6. If everything worked, and the resulting package works, you are
done. If not, tweak things to try to make them work, then go back to
step 5. This is the hard part.

And I am sure irc.oftc.net #debian-mentors will always be available to
help if you have any questions.
