Package: nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-source
Version: 96.43.07-2
Severity: normal
Hi,
I had the same problem with a machine with a 2.6.28 kernel I
custom-compiled. Still wanting to get some graphic acceleration with this
kernel, I went ahead, took a look at the source of the package and built a
personal version. It is here:
http://hivernal.org/resources/debian/
Usual instructions for adding a third-party repository:
http://hivernal.org/static/debian/
(in french, but you should know what you are doing anyway).
In a nutshell, I just had to change the version number in upstream_info,
change the xen patch in patches and it compiled ok. I installed the package,
compiled against my kernel, a few warnings were displayed (nvidia is most
likely the culprit, for these), rebooted and it seems to work (glxgears was
fast, blender did not complain).
I propose them only for the impatient, I shall remove them as soon as a new
version enters testing.
