Right, because it built the module for all the headers that you *did* have
installed, which all worked fine. It's just that none of those were for
the kernel that you were actually running, so you didn't get the module
you needed.
It's probably the biggest problem with DKMS. This is all very unintuitive
if one doesn't install kernels solely via the metapackages and ensure that
you have all the header metapackages installed as well.
