[pkg-nvidia-devel] Performance Mode/9800GT

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to this. I have an nvidia
9800gt with squeeze drivers. It has always been quite loud so today I
started to try to figure out why that might be. If I run nvclock -i I see:

Here is what I see from nvclock:
Sensor: Analog Devices ADT7473
Board temperature: 58C
GPU temperature: *78C*
Fanspeed: 1583 RPM
Fanspeed mode: auto
PWM duty cycle: 74.1%

I checked in nvidia-settings and saw that the Performance Mode is set to
Maximum Performance. Is it possible that this is why the card is so
hot/loud? Other people have told me that they have a drop-down box there and
are able to select different modes but this is not the case for me. If this
isn't supported for this card/driver version, is there another way to quiet
this card?

Thanks,
James S.
