[pkg-nvidia-devel] Hello

Since Randall McDonald posted a request for help and a call to new
blood, I bit the bullet and subscribed to this list. I am not a DD (nor
a DM) but I am knowledgeable on debian packaging. I use Debian since
1998, have a signed gpg key and I use nvidia cards at work and at home.
Some of my friends can also test legacy packages.

Right now, I could help by integrating patches from the BTS to
nvidia-kernel-common:
 * move /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc to nvidia-kernel-nkc.conf
 * add support for consolekit (right now, I can use my nvidia card
without being added to the video group).
 * make lintian-clean nvidia-kernel-common package (2 warnings for the
binary, 3 for the source) and cure the last bug in the BTS (runlevels
for the init.d script)
 * May be switch to the automatic debhelper way (using dh) ?

nvidia-kernel-common could be bugless tomorrow. This is an easy part.

nvidia-graphics-drivers also needs some love. I would like especially to
debug the wrong shlibs of nvidia-glx-ia32 (which prevents installation
of other packages, e.g. googleearth as packages by googleearth-package).
After that, I will need to understand fully the debian/rules of
nvidia-graphics-drivers (it does not work very well: building twice in a
row is difficult, I need to call build before calling binary for the
second compilation).

I will send the debdiff for the consolekit functionality, I hope this
will be of some interest.
