New legacy driver packages 96.43.18-1 were just uploaded to unstable. Please 
test them together with current kernel and Xorg and see whether the problem 
persists. If you had previously installed the driver using the .run file, 
please first use the nvidia uninstaller to remove the old installation before 
installing the Debian packages.
