Bug#613534: Seems to be rather a bug in nvidia, not the kernel

This might be interesting. I just installed 2.6.39 and nvidia-glx from 
backports (thanks for that) and, surprise, the ThinkVantage button 
works. There must be some difference between the backported kernel and 
the 2.6.39 that was uploaded to sid. Or maybe in nvidia?
