Hi,

Unfortunately I installed the backports nvidia-settings and still get
the same error: "Unable to load X Server Display Configuration page:
Failed to query NoScanout for screen 0."

For the record this is what I did to install the backports version:

I added the backports to the sources.list: deb
http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports squeeze-backports main

Purged the existing nvidia-settings package:

:~$ sudo apt-get purge nvidia-settings
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
   nvidia-settings*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
After this operation, 2,093 kB disk space will be freed.

And reinstalled nvidia-settings from backports:

:~$ sudo apt-get -t squeeze-backports install nvidia-settings

The following NEW packages will be installed:
   nvidia-settings
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 113 not upgraded.
Need to get 825 kB of archives.
After this operation, 2,093 kB of additional disk space will be used.
