Package: libgl1-nvidia-glx
Version: 295.53-1
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
currently, libgl1-nvidia-glx can not be installed in a foreign architecture
since it depends on libxvmc1, which has not yet been converted to
multi-arch [1]. This means that foreign-architecture applications can not use
hardware-accelerated OpenGL.
However, libgl1-nvidia-glx-ia32 which used to provide this functionality, only
depends on ia32-libs, which does not contain libxvmc. So the driver actually
works without it available. From what I understood, the nvidia drivers merely
provide an alternative xvmc implementation which has to be manually set up in
/etc/X11/XvMCConfig. Besides, GeForce 8 and later cards do not even support
xvmc at all [2].
Since the package does not actually depend on anything libxvmc does or provides,
I suggest to downgrade the Depends: to a Recommends:
Kind regards,
Ralf
