Bug#694155: nvidia-vdpau-driver:amd64: Only native resolution on DFP available with recent NVidia driver version

After careful investigation, this issue comes from
an upstream design decision in the 3xx driver series.

In this new series of the NVidia driver, for reasons
that completely escape my understanding, the user
is directly exposed to the (powerful) details of
the inner working of the GPU pipeline, like
RasterSize, ViewPortIn, ViewPortOut etc. See
the following url for more explanations from
one of the driver's programmers.

http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2012-September/096933.html

A positive consequence is that one is now free to
program arbitrary zoom/rotation/panning on any
display device.

The negative consequence is that if you want *just*
to adapt your LCD "resolution" to that of an external
beamer to show your slides in "clone" mode, you are
now going to have to play with these parameters which
are way more obscure than the traditional "1024x768"
modes that did show up in nvidia-settings with pre-3xx
drivers.

For example, I have to click on the "Advanced" button
in the X server display configuration window, and then
type 1024x768 in the ViewPortIn and Panning fields, and
leave alone the ViewPortOut field.
[I checked this functionality on the 310 version in
experimental, where it is supported properly; it did
not seem to work on the 304.60-1 driver, which is no
longer relevant anyway]

Did not find out how to do the same using xrandr yet.

A good tutorial on how to get the basic old functionality
with these new features would be a big plus.
