Did you read Nvidia's README and other documentation? From the changelog
I remember that 304.* changed something in that area, so "the old ways"
may no longer work, but eventually a new way exists.

If this does not help you to find a solution, please report this
directly to Nvidia. The (deprecated?) forum instructions are here:

but recently it seems to be better to send mail to
linux-bugs at nvidia.com and attach the file generated by running
nvidia-bug-report.sh
