Package: nvidia-driver
Version: 319.76-1
Severity: important
Hello,
again i tried to upgrade from a perfect running installation of Debian wheezy to jessie.
This installation has been upgraded more than one time and in the history there might be the usage of original nvidia
packages.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Currently running on wheezy is nvidia version 304.88-1+deb7u1.
lspci shows:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430] (rev a1)
$ dmesg | grep -i nvidia
[ 3.940182] nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.

[ 5.296760] input: HDA NVidia HDMI/DP,pcm=7 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/0000:02:00.1/sound/card1/input9
[ 5.296978] input: HDA NVidia HDMI/DP,pcm=3 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/0000:02:00.1/sound/card1/input10
Is this the driver of the Debian packages or from natively NVida?
How can i determine the difference?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now after the upgrade to jessie i have the installed NVidia packages:
ii glx-alternative-nvidia 0.4.1 amd64 allows the selection of NVIDIA as

I installed the package nvidia-xconfig and generated a new xorg.conf, but i still only get a blank screen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In the attached nvidia-installer.log i find
*** /var/log/nvidia-installer.log
*** ls: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 639 2012-06-15 21:39:59.000000000 +0200 /var/log/nvidia-installer.log
nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log'
creation time: Fri Jun 15 21:39:55 2012
installer version: 295.59
This is none of the other versions ???
It's really boring to have only a command shell after boot of jessie!
I have no idea what's going wrong and i don't want to install the original NVidia driver package.
Any help to solve the problem maybe helpful to other persons with the same problem also.
Regards
Karsten
