I made a few quick tests installing/upgrading the package in a pbuilder
chroot with (and without) adding my gpu to the obsolete ones. Didn't
explode so far :-)

Go!

You don't need to mark your uploads as "Team Upload" if you are in
Uploaders.

Regarding upstream changelog entries: changes that solely concern
nvidia-installer are dropped, changes that are for exclusively for a
separately packaged program should only go to the other package.
(Changes concerning the NV X extension should go to both n-g-d and
nvidia-settings).

I recently redid my script to import the module source portion
(excluding blob) and upstream changelog into git, that makes diffing for
upstream changelog changes and conftest.sh updates quite easy. Now I
just need to make a new repository in alioth and push it there.

I'm at a conference this week, so may have even less time :-)
