Wrong. The thing I exchanged was just the use of a convenience shortcut,
and it should work just fine without it with almost any kernel released
in the last 8 years.

$ git blame v3.18 include/linux/fs.h | grep f_dentry
0f7fc9e4d (Josef "Jeff" Sipek    2006-12-08 02:36:35 -0800  792) #define f_dentry	f_path.dentry
