I'm a moron- I apologize abjectly Andreas. I had added non-free to my
sources, but not contrib. After adding contrib,
nvidia-installer-cleanup now has a candidate, and an apt-get install
of nvidia-driver appears to be completely happy :) I normally set up
contrib when I install a new machine but forgot to do it this time.
I think this solves my issue! Thanks!
