I have verified on my vanilla jessie partition that this crash indeed
happens on 0.8-3+deb8u1 as well. I also tested cherry-picking the patch
on the jessie branch, and it fixes it.

I tested building 0.8-3+deb8u2 that I uploaded to git on amd64, i386,
arm64 jessie chroots.

Would you like me to go ahead and create a bug against the release
project to get the debdiff reviewed and approved for p-u?
