Did you run nvidia-xconfig? Just installing the package isn't enough.
The bug-script ran by reportbug didn't find any Xorg config file.
And using the 4-line manually created one from the wiki page should
usually be sufficient.

The gdm logfile would be nice as well as the xorg ones. Since the
reportbug script didn't find the xorg logfiles in /var/log, you may
retrieve them from journald with
  journalctl -b _COMM=Xorg --no-pager
