Hi!
Some ppl on #debian-qt-kde reported being able to start a wayland session
(with KDE/KWin), but I didn't seem to be able to do that. After reading
https://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2016/07/why-does-kwin_wayland-not-start/ I wanted to give it another try.
https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NVIDIA-364.19-Released
indicated that I likely needed the 364 driver, I tried building it following
the instructions on
https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers#Building_newer_releases_from_SVN
As I got the following errors at the end of it, I decided NOT to reboot (yet),
but report it to this ML instead:
Errors were encountered while processing:
libgl1-nvidia-glx_364.19-1_amd64.deb
libglx-nvidia0:amd64
nvidia-driver
nvidia-vulkan-icd
xserver-xorg-video-nvidia
And here is the full log of what I've done. Note that I tried to do as many
steps as normal users, while the instructions in the wiki indicate everything
should be done as root (# <command>):
Build log moved to https://cknow.org/debian/nvidia-drivers-364-build.log
(it was too big for paste.debian.net)
This is on a Debian Sid system with nvidia-driver package version 352.79-9 on
a GeForce GT 430 card.
The '53 not upgraded' message aptitude reported are all KDE 5.7 packages which
I've decided not to upgrade yet until they are all uploaded to the archives.
Otherwise my system is completely up-to-date.
Cheers,
Diederik
