Indeed. But "support" sounded more confident :-)

The legacy setuid wrapper is a binary that runs and then forks Xorg.
Upstream doesn't support it, I think because it runs Xorg and opens
pipes to read some output. I'm adding more details to the upstream
ticket.

Patch comes from this PR to upstream's repo:
https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee/pull/743
Plus a couple changes that I already suggested there.

Verified that it works on Ubuntu (Wily), Jessie and Sid (with/without
the legacy package), with the different configuration of course
depending on Xorg version. When/if we backport again to Jessie, that
commit will have to be dropped/reverted.

Given it causes so much grief, could we do an upload? Also, may I please
get whitelisted and do the upload, if you don't mind? :-)

Also, I noticed I still hit the problem with bumblebee when switching
driver branch via update-glx --config nvidia: starting on current, all
works, moving to 340xx, all works, but try to move back to current and
it breaks because the legacy kernel module is still loaded. Restarting X
and bumblebeed doesn't solve it.

Kind regards,
Luca Boccassi
