We could rename libgl1-nvidia-glx to libgl1-nvidia-non-glvnd-glx
(without a transitional package), that would ensure upgrades switch to
the glvnd flavor automatically. But I'm not sure whether we should
propose to do this in stretch.
Same for libegl1.
