installed debian wheezy on imac
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

could not install nvidia-driver withouth resorting to debian-backports;
however, version 340.x seems unstable for graphic card nvidia gt 130;

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

install nvidia-driver and nvidia-glfx via wheezy repositories
