Ok :-)

If you remember, almost 2 years ago now I had a PoC conversion, it was
pushed here:

It seemed to have worked reasonably well. Here's what I had done at the
time, in case it can be useful:

One thing that would be nice is to skip one of the SVN commits that
checked in an upstream tarball by mistake - which means the git repo is
150 MB instead of a few KBs.

It was revision 4807 on trunk.
