Unfortunately, nv no longer exists. It has been replaced by nouveau
(which is rather buggy), I've mentioned here:

I forgot that due to a bug in nouveau, I was using a compositor
(compton) by default. But if I kill it, the bug does not occur
either. And BTW, if I use compton on the machine with the
closed-source nvidia driver, the problem disappears.

There may be some differences, but same gnome-terminal, vte and cairo
packages. The other machine does not use systemd, but I doubt this
matters.

The config is similar.

Now, in any case, the information on the influence of the compositor
(on the same machine) may be more useful.
