Package: nsight-compute
Version: 2021.2.2.1~11.4.3-2
Severity: wishlist
By default, the nvidia kernel module is loaded such that profiling is
restricted to privileged users. The rationale for this in [1] was about
a local information disclosure.
However, one could argue that on systems where nsight-compute is
installed in the first place, regular developers would want to make use
of it. To this end, loading the module with
option nvidia NVreg_RestrictProfilingToAdminUsers=0
Would do this by default.
Is this something you might consider worthwhile to add somewhere to the
nsight-compute package?
Please feel free to simply close the bug if you don't; I'd fully understand.
