I was having the same problem with my A3000 laptop. I'm now running the 595.99.02 driver from Nvidia's website, and it seems OK: glxgears, vkcube, mpv with nvdec, console switching; all that. The release notes

say,  "Fixed a bug which led to a black screen when console switching on."  Please update! Thanks.
