Thanks for the explanation. Guess I have to agree as there is no other
choice :(

Thanks for following through all this. BTW: You spoke about adding
symbol versioning to libldap2.2 but I did not see anything to this
extent in the sources. Guess we have to enable that to keep slapd
together with the old libldap2 stable.
