Right, but the drawback of shlibs.local as I recall is that it forces
*all* intra-package dependencies to use the shlibs.local value, including
any internal dependencies between the libraries in the package, and thus
can create a different form of duplicate dependency where a package
depends on itself.

But I haven't tested this -- it's possible I'm misremembering.
