The trail on this bug is quite cold, seeing how it's a one-year-old upgrade
issue that managed to resolve itself, but I'd still like to try to bring
some closure here.  Benjamin, were you able to find the LDIF output file
that Quanah had mentioned?  After the upgrade completed, was all of your
data intact?

If slapcat was frozen, this wouldn't have been related to your SSL
certificate issue.  I guess that at some point, the slapcat process must
have finished on its own if you were able to successfully upgrade; did you
notice performance problems with the database after that (based on the error
messages shown in your upgrade log)?
