I can't reproduce this error in either the lenny or the squeeze versions of
slapd.  I don't see anything in the slapd config script that could cause an
infinite loop on initial installation of a package.  Did you have a previous
version of slapd installed before this?  When the error occurs, what does
running 'strace' against the slapd.config process show?  Have you seen
problems with other packages that have debconf config scripts?
