FWIW I found myself with exactly the same thing when testing packaged 
builds of 2.4.23 and 2.4.24 for my bug here. I just assumed that I'd 
managed to mix up some 2.4.23 and 2.4.24 libraries somewhere when 
building .deb packages, since switching to vanilla source builds seemed 
to work fine. It does seem that there is something else going on here 
though.
