[Pkg-openldap-devel] libldap* packaging question

Hi maintainers,

I'm building a customised version of your openldap package for local use
(different configure options), and I've noticed something that looks strange to me.

If I compile openldap-2.4.23 according to upstream instructions I get these libs:

root at rover:/<path>/lib# ls -l

But in the Debian package for squeeze, same version:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     22 Jul 13 10:54 libldap_r-2.4.so.2 ->  libldap_r-2.4.so.2.5.6
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 297256 Jun 16 00:05 libldap_r-2.4.so.2.5.6

So the question is, why do you drop libldap-2.4.so.2.5.6 and set up different symlinks?
I assume there is a good reason, but your good reason may not be suitable for my situation.
Essentially, I need to decide if I should unpick that change or carry it over into my
customised package.

Any information you can provide would be appreciated.
