[Pkg-openldap-devel] Fwd: Multi-master setup in debian

Hi,

I've posted a question about n-way multimaster replication in Debian
(basically I wanted to know a procedure to do it) and got answers saying
the Debian package of OpenLDAP is not recommended at all (see the message
below). Would you mind to tell me if you agree with these statements? (I'd
prefer to use Debian packages when possible but don't want to use a broken
system).

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Regards,
Toshiro.

It is always interesting to me when someone emails the technical list,
asking for guidance from people who know the most about the software, and
then ignore it. The Debian build of OpenLDAP is old, links to a
potentially insecure SSL implementation, and has a variety of known bugs
present in it that are known to affect replication, particularly
multi-master. Understand that by continuing to use the Debian package, you
are essentially setting yourself up for failure when looking at using
Multi-Master Replication.
