I searched briefly for those bugs, but didn't find them. Did you end up
actually filing them? I've verified that libnss-ldap and libpam-ldap
both still have this bug in wheezy and sid. nslcd includes the password
directly in its conf file and is not affected, and ldapscripts in
unstable now takes its configuration from nslcd (#610971), so I think
wheezy is the last release where this particular problem appears.

Based on Russ' responses, I'm tagging this bug "wontfix" to indicate
that the openldap side won't be changed to accommodate the EOL in the
password file.
