I don't believe this is the same bug as the one you replied to, but I 
agree that this behaviour is not ideal. In fact the script includes code 
to generate a unique backup path using the current date and time, but 
it's not used because dpkg-reconfigure passes the previously configured 
version which gets used instead. I'm turning this into a new bug report 
to track that. Thanks for reporting it!
