I would very much like to see such a backport, as long as we can arrange
for bdb/hdb format upgrades to be done properly.
Currently the databases[1] will be dumped and reloaded when upgrading to
2.4.39 or later, because that's when the unstable package changed from
db5.1 to db5.3. If we backport 2.4.40 to wheezy and build it against
db5.1, we need to make sure the dump and reload still happens when the
libdb version eventually changes, whenever that might be.
IMO the easiest solution is to backport db5.3 as well as openldap, and
build 2.4.40 in wheezy-backports with the same libraries as it uses in
jessie. I don't think we can modify the upgrade logic in jessie's
package at this point.
What do you think? Is there a better way?
