[Pkg-openldap-devel] syncrepl replicating across slapd versions

Hi,

I'm unsure if this is an appropriate forum, please let me know if it's
not. We're currently running a Debian Wheezy slapd producer with slapd
version 2.4.31-1+nmu2, doing syncrepl replicating to Debian Squeeze
slapd consumers, running slapd 2.4.23-7.3.

We are seeing memory leaks with our producer, and suspect syncrepl bugs,
as suggested by Quanah at
http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-technical/201502/msg00063.html.

We're planning on upgrading the producer to the backported slapd,
version 2.4.31+really2.4.40-3~bpo70+1 (or the -4 once it's available) to
avoid this problem.

I suspect it's not wise to replicate across different versions of slapd
like we have already been doing, and I will transition all the consumers
to the same version as soon as I can. But in the meantime, does anyone
know if my proposed version combination (2.4.31+really2.4.40-3~bpo70+1
replicating to 2.4.23-7.3) is going to be a bad idea?
